  Long queues but efficiently and quickly served. Basic fish and chips were decent but didn't quite live up to the reputation. I've had better fish and chips in Canberra (sad!). Fish (southern Hake) was nicely fried, not too oily, not too dry. Chips were somehow not right. Perhaps just a little too oily and a somewhat commercial taste and texture that I can't quite put my finger on. The absolute worst though was the tartare sauce. It comes in a foil sealed plastic container with the Doyle's logo on it. Looks promising with some chunky herbs present but tastes overwhelmingly of vinegar and some other astringent flavour. Many commercial tartare preparations are bland but this is unpleasant and came served at a warm temperature that made it even more unpalatable.
